We met in January 2023 on a dating app in Atlanta. Winston swiped right on Melanie’s prompt: “Give me recommendations for Barcelona and Valencia, Spain”—she was planning her first trip abroad that spring. On our first date, we bonded over travel: her upcoming adventure to Spain, Winston’s journeys across 23 countries, and our hopes for the future.

A few weeks later, Melanie casually invited Winston to visit her in Spain, where she’d be working abroad for five weeks. True to his adventurous spirit, he said yes. That spontaneous trip to Spain and Portugal marked the beginning of our relationship—and a shared love of travel.

Since then, we’ve explored nine countries together, built a home base in Atlanta, and filled our lives with cooking, travel google docs, dog fostering, and cozy nights in.

Winston proposed to Melanie on their second trip to Africa in February 2025. It only felt right to celebrate our next adventure with a destination wedding in a place that holds so much meaning for our story—and to bring together all the people we love: our family and friends from the U.S., Winston’s Venezuelan family living in Spain and Italy, and those still in Venezuela.
